WHAT: Principia School’s 5th Annual National High School Mediation Tournament will provide students with a hands-on understanding of mediation and the role it plays in the practice of law and in everyday life. Friday afternoon and all day Saturday, participants will practice their mediation skills in friendly competition. Over three preliminary rounds and one final round, students will perform the role of mediator, advocate, and client at least once each.

WHAT: The FFSD Teen Mediation Tournament is meant to teach students down-to-earth negotiation skills, problem solving, and goal-oriented communication so they can learn to resolve differences peacefully and build future-ready skills.

Nick Critelli, American attorney and English barrister, discussed how new officers can avail themselves of conflict resolution strategies and mediation techniques from the civil ADR arena. His talk and the discussion with members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Army joined the concepts of project planning with the world of dispute resolution and expressed that a mediation is not an event but a project.

ABOUT: Renee Bumpus has always loved animals. She began her wildlife career in Canada, working at an endangered species conservation center where she bottle fed baby animals like lemurs and pygmy hippos and enhanced the recovery and reintroduction efforts for endangered species locally and globally.
In her career she has worked with National Geographic and wildlife professionals like Jane Goodall. She has witnessed an endangered species rebound from the brink of extinction through captive breeding at zoos and reintroduction.
As an experienced wildlife and conservation professional, she’s worked in field research and effective global conservation efforts for species like Lemurs, African painted dogs and Lions in Africa, sharks and tapirs in Central and South America and many species in North America. She’s guided wildlife-focused tours all over the world .
In her current role of Chief Animal Conservation Officer at Palm Beach Conservation Society, she is working to protect wildlife like Florida panthers and coral in Florida, and animals like Jaguar in Belize.
